Maple - Paper Bark - 7 Gal.

Acer griseum

This small tree gives year round landscape pleasure with good habit, pleasing medium green foliage, showy red fall color and excellent winter interest with its exfoliating bark. Exfoliation starts on second year stems revealing rich cinnamon to red-brown color. Definitely under-used!

Interesting Notes

E. H. (“Chinese”) Wilson brought this tree from China to England in 1899. It was introduced in the U. S. shortly thereafter by the Arnold Arboretum. Genus name is the Latin name for a maple tree. Specific epithet comes from the Latin word griseus meaning gray in reference to color of the leaf undersides.
